If you're planning on participating in one of the many bike shows at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, here's what you need to know.
Both the Hall of Fame static show and the Ride ‘Em Don’t Hide ‘Em show are on Saturday, July 10. Registration for both shows begins at 8 a.m. at the Bike Show Tent in the infield (maps and signs showing the way there).
For the Hall of Fame static show, registration begins at 8 a.m. and must be complete by 11 a.m. The cost is a $5 donation to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, and show motorcycles are parked on the show grid until awards at 3 p.m.
For the Ride ‘Em Don’t Hide ‘Em, registration begins at 8 a.m. and must be complete by 10 a.m., as the ride leaves at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $15 and includes lunch. All bikes in this show go on a 50-mile scenic ride with a lunch stop at the halfway point. When the bikes return, they are set on the show grid until awards at 3 p.m.
For both shows, all motorcycles 1989 and older are eligible. For the Ride ‘Em show, the motorcycle must be street legal, in good running condition and the riders and passengers must wear a helmet. These are fun shows and the judges are experienced at this event. It’s not judged as strictly as the Hall of Fame Concours d’Elegance later in the year, and in addition to other awards, the 2010 Grand Marshal, Malcolm Smith, will select his favorite motorcycle from each of the shows.
